Florida is only two days away, so for this week’s class we went through the final preparations before departure. Packing and dividing the equipment were essential parts of our agenda. We are all very excited about the upcoming trip, so this may have made us somewhat unfocused while going through the equipment. Dr. Luskay managed to get us on the right track and our bags are now officially ready for takeoff.
Throughout these first weeks of the semester we’ve done extensive research on Florida and the Archbold Biological Station in order to find potential story lines and interviewees. We spent some time during class going over and gathering all the research in one place.
Connecting and reaching out to people in Florida has also been essential to our preparation. In addition to sending out emails and making phone calls, we also turned to social media to get in touch with people. It turns out that Twitter can be a great tool for making connections!
In other words, our bags are packed, our itinerary is set, and we can’t wait to get started. Throughout the week we will update you on our progress and experiences, so stay tuned!
